Join MOAD for another event in its ongoing lecture series, Migrations of the Sacred: Spiritual Practices Across the Diaspora, featuring legendary pianist, composer and lecturer Randy Weston speaking about the profound impact of African music, rhythms and spirituality on his life and music. Weston has devoted his life to the study of African music, and spent six years in Morocco running a nightclub and working with the Gnawa, descendants of sub-Saharan Africans taken to Morocco as slaves and artisans.
Presented in collaboration with the SF Jazz Heritage Center.
