Women's History Month Special Event:

Wild Women of Song: Great Gal Composers of the Jazz Era

For over five years, San Francisco jazz vocalist Pamela Rose has been investigating and performing the music of women songwriters of the Tin Pan Alley and classic blues eras. While most of their songs are well known and loved, audiences were unaware that they'd been penned by women. Released at Yoshi's last November, Wild Women of Song: Great Gal Composers of the Jazz Era is the captivating CD that reports back on Rose's musical explorations and celebrates these women and their music.

On Sunday March 21st at 3pm, in a special program designed for the Jazz Heritage Center, presented in the intimate setting of the JHC's Media and Education Center, Rose will take us on an engaging and fascinating journey, with photographic images of the writers, biographical anecdotes and live musical performance.  Pianist Tammy Hall and bassist Ruth Davies will accompany.  A reception with the musicians follows in the Lush Life Gallery. This event is a fund-raiser for the Jazz Heritage Center.

Date and time:  Sunday, March 21st 3pm-5pm.

Location: Jazz Heritage Center's Media and Education Center (1330 Fillmore St.), at the rear of the lobby next to Yoshi's box office.
